There's no planet Hollywood either; however, there are quite a few 'TGI - Fridays' and right next to 101 there is Warner village with a cinema complex and another American themed restaurant called 'Rosie Malone's'.

On An-He road there is a pub which is always open and it's called Carnegie's, it is also a 'rock' themed pub and Westerners regularly go there to eat as well as drink!|||Hi,
Both Planet Hollywood and HRC were unsuccessful here and closed down quite a few years ago.|||In Taichung we have a Chili's restaurant in the "Tiger City' mall and quite a few TGI Fridays. Thats about it for the 'upscale' chain restaurants from the west at the moment. Usually the ones that succeed have done some homework to make their product appeal to the Taiwanese market. Those that don't, obviously haven't or didn't try to adjust to the competitive restaurant market that exists here or just got unlucky with their choices of business contacts here. People here don't automatically adopt all that Americans like, unlike what some believe.

If you are looking for western style alternatives:
Mos Burger is present all over. And McDonalds/KFC is everywhere even the smaller towns have those.

In Taichung alot of people go to Fingas, Fattys, FM Station is a popular chain restaurant here that has some good interpretations of western food mixed with popular Taiwanese and Chinese style choices, Salut has wicked pizza, Uncle Jimmy's is another popular choice for western type foods.

I believe I ate at a Texas Grill style restaurant in Kenting- perhaps that was a Hard Rock Cafe- anybody have any idea what that place is called- I havent been there for 2 years so the memory is pretty shaky.|||There is a Hooter's!
