Going there May 1st, planning to go to The Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood, some Epcot restaurants and probably some other WDW restaurants too. The two latter I need to make reservations ahead for (from what I've read and heard about it...), but how about the Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hoolywood? And for restaurants in general? Is it necessary to make reservations ahead?|||I would suggest getting reservations, or going at an "off" time. Such as eating a late lunch or early dinner at 3 or 4 pm. When I went last year we made reservations for Planet Hollywood- all they had open was 8pm, and it was crowded. (we would have prefered earlier, but we were calling on the same day and took what we could get) Rainforest Cafe usually isn't too bad. You have 2 of those in Disney World- one is at Animal Kingdom and the other in Downtown Disney. Both are excellant! Depending on how large your party is, you had better make your reservations FAST! If you have only 2 or 3 people, you might actually be able to get right in with a short wait/ no reservation. We ended up doing this for one meal when we were there. We wanted a to make a reservation for 5, but they had none available. We were there when the restaurant (50's Prime Time Cafe in MGM) first opened for the day (like 11:30am) and there was NO one there, and they still wouldn't seat us, so we ended up breaking into 2 groups and got seated immediately! Especially at lunch time, they arent usually that busy.|||it's better to make reservation for the disney park and resort restaurants. just call (407)WDW-DINE. as for rainforest and planet hollywood, it is not necessary to make a reservation although it's possible. it's probably better to make one just because orlando will start to get busy during the summer time.|||i would make reservations in advance for anything in that area at that time. cant hurt...|||Restaurants in general do require reservations in advance.|||You don't need to make reservations for Rainforest Cafe. You may have a short wait, but its never very long. As for Planet Hollywood, definitely make reservations. They have a list out front and its always long. In my opinion, their food isn't the best. So I recommend going there for their fantastic desserts instead. Any restaurant which is specified as a sit down (and especially character meals or buffets) will require a reservation, or you may show up and not be able to dine there. So definitely plan out your days first and then figure out where you'd like to eat!
