Rooms, atmosphere, and location on strip.|||I would have to say NYNY. I went there last year and had a blast and I plan on going there again this year. In terms of location it is within 1 minute of walking to 3 other hotels that are each on the corners of the intersection it is on (MGM, Excalibur, & Tropicana), a 5-10 minute walk south to Luxor and Mandalay Bay, and its not too far of a walk to the middle of the strip to get to Bellagio, PH, Paris and others. The atmosphere is great, I really liked the casino and you could walk through the streets of NY to get a slice of pizza after you are done gambling. The room I had was also nice with a great view of the strip to the left and desert mountains to the right.

I saw Planet Hollywood when it was the Aladdin and that would be my second choice. The casino was cool and it did have a good location in the middle of the strip.

If you've never been to Vegas I would not reccommend Rio because it is off the strip and most people including myself would say you should stay on the strip for your first visit. I would not want to stay off the strip myself which is why I'm going back to NYNY.

Wow, I read somebody elses answer and totally missed you said MGM and not NYNY. I would say do Planet Hollywood between these because I have heard complaints that if you stay at MGM you could walk like 3 football fields to get to your elevator from your room.|||No planet hollywood hotel, th rio is not on the strip. the MGM is ok but many people say its too big. Try another hotel|||MGM, but NY NY is right across the street and is pretty nice too.|||I'd choose Planet Hollywood just because it's new and I haven't really been in it, but next to that I would choose the Rio, because parking at the MGM is a NIGHTMARE. I'm from Las Vegas, so I don't really know about how rooms are, I just know about parking garages and movie theaters and restaurants and concert venues.|||MGM, located on the strip, love it.|||MGM|||The RIO is a little bit off the strip but a far superior hotel with excellent facilities.
It is close to the PALMS which has alot of stars that go to the club upstairs and it is also where they film that tatoo show on A&E.|||MGM, but I loved New York, New York. It was fun.|||MGM Grand has the best location, however, the atmosphere at the Rio is better, coz you feel more relaxed and laid-back and it is an all-suite hotel so all their rooms are huge! i loved it there! they also have shuttles anyway that can take you to and from the Strip. =)|||I've stayed at these hotels and I prefer the Rio due to the atmopshere, Best Buffet, and I've been just luckier there.

The Rio is part of the Harrahs chain so you can accumulate and use any comp points at Harrahs, Rio, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Ballys, or Paris (as well as at other Harrahs properties across the US).

MGM is on the south side of the Las Vegas strip across from the Tropicana, Excalibur, New York New York.

Good Luck and have fun.|||I live in Vegas and stayed at the MGM for my friend's 21st birthday. We had a good time there. There are plenty of bars to visit, things to do, great restaurants and the location is excellent. Try to book a suite... it's well worth it!|||MGM has the best location|||I would prefer rio because they have a Masqarade show in the sky i think every hour on the hour. The roomas are nice and have huge couches where 2 people can sleep on and its just a good atmosphere all thought the rio is no on the strip.|||actually I stayed at the Rivera, the rooms just for sleeping, if you have time for that, then just get to wherever else you want to be at. you can walk, take a cab, car, monorail, bus.|||i would prefer ph since its newest!
