Whats your opinion of this hotel? Ive been searching for the best hotel for me and my husband to go to when we visit Las Vegas in August for my 22nd birthday. Just wondering what peoples opinions are of Planet Hollywood?? My other choices are Golden Nugget, Paris and Flamingo but Ive read some bad reviews...Planet Hollywood seemed to have the best reviews of them all. But just wanted to see if I could get some other answers here. Any opinions are appreciated!! :)|||I stayed at the Mirage on my first trip to Vegas and I loved it. But both my boyfriend and I agreed that on our next trip, we'd stay at Planet Hollywood. It's true center strip and most of the things we wanted to do were a short walk from there. They had great shopping and a great atmosphere. Some rooms even have a view of the Bellagio fountains across the street which are beautiful.
The Flamingo is also in a great location but a little bit of an older hotel. If you can get a newly renovated room, then I think that would be my second choice. Paris is also great but it's more expensive than Planet Hollywood and the Flamingo, and I don't think it's worth the extra money.
Golden Nugget is about 20 mins from the strip on Fremont St. Not walking distance to the strip. They do have a great pool, and is centrally located in downtown Las Vegas. If you are wanting to stay on Fremont St, Golden Nugget is the best choice. But judging by your other options, I think you want to stay on the strip.
Just a suggestion... I really loved the Mirage. They had one of the best pools, Sigfried & Roy's Secret Garden was awesome, great selection of restaurants, newly renovated rooms that were HUGE with the comfiest beds, and the casino was a nice size. I loved the atmosphere of it too. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. AND it's priced in the middle.
Check out www.tripadvisor.com to see some traveler's reviews and photos. That always helps me to make my mind up.|||PH is meant for people in their 20's but so is Luxor. Golden Nugget is the senior crow. Paris and Flamingo are all ages.|||Stay away from downtown at your age. Flamingo is a lot older than PH and should be a lot cheaper also than PH or Paris. Paris is usually sold out and crowded. PH is a good choice and you may see some movie stars there since they own it.|||I would go with the flamingo. Great pool, and remodeled rooms with flat screens on an affordable budget.|||Planet Hollywood is in a good location, has rooms that are well appointed. Although they have a large 450 sq ft footprint a lot of the space is taken up by the overly large bathroom. The Lobby is much too small so if it is busy when you arrive you can have quite a wait to check in. The pool is only fair.
The Mirage, as another has suggested, is worth a look. They have a younger crowd. They also have a great pool area complete with a waterfall and for a fee, there is even a pool area called BARE that allows European swimming, or toppless as we say in the States if that is your thing.
What draws the younger crowd is the Jet Night Club and the fact that the Mirage and Treasure Island are connected by a free tram. Treasure Island has Christian Audigier The Nightclub as well as Mist a trendy lounge and Kahunaville an all out Party Bar. Kahunaville is casual dress, no cover, has a DJ and Flair Bartenders. It is more raucus and fun than the attitude Clubs but that is my opinion.
The main point is that Mirage has the Volcano erupt out front in the evening and Treasure Island has the Pirate show so most young people watch the fountains at Bellagio, then move up the Strip to see the Volcano and Pirate thing because you are able to use the tram to travel back and forth. The night time is turned over to the Party People due to this fact. That is why I suggest it for people in their early twenties. Heck, the rooms even have Ipod docks.
You do not state how long your stay is. If it is less than 5 days you will appreciate being in the heart of the action. Most of what you will want to see and do will be within walking distance. Believe me, that is an important consideration on the Strip.
*|||I went there recently. They have the worse service ever. The hotel looks good but you get lost with the mall they have inside. Plus is always dead no atmosphere what so ever. I will never stay here again!!|||I've stayed at planet hollywood twice in the past two years and I LOVE IT!!! Its price is comparatively pretty good, its got the best location right across from the bellagio. We stayed in a room that faced the bellagio and were able to see the fountain show . They have a nice mall attached and we loved the casino. Also a lot of really great restaraunts inside it as well as the nightclub prive. Dont miss out on Pampas restaraunt. Its worth it Would definitely suggest there.
